The St Anthony’s Sensory Garden is well-hidden and can be accessed via two gates to the right of Trinity Church, Peasholme Green. Opposite the Black Swan Pub and near to the Woolpack House Surgery.

The sensory garden and buildings that surround the garden are owned by The York Conservation Trust. The tenants within these buildings wish to open their doors, especially for us to experience and review.

In the morning, we will experience the Thin Ice Press, a University of York social enterprise which offers traditional printmaking methods and is based in The Old School House leading from the gardens.

During lunch, we will experience the garden with all its abundance of flowers and plentiful seating. We encourage you to independently saunter around the garden and make comments on its accessibility. Talented pianist, Vanessa Simmons of Trinity Church, has written a piece of music for us to enjoy whilst we explore the space.

In the afternoon, we have been invited to experience the York Ghost Merchants’ Dispensary, where sculptural objects are made in the form of 8cm high cast ghost shaped ornaments. They are collectors’ items and highly sought after.
