Sight Loss Golf Sessions for All – Booking Essential

This golf taster session will allow individuals with sight loss to try golf in a relaxed and supportive environment. With the support of a golf professional and guide volunteers, this is the perfect opportunity to get out and have a go, meet new people and potentially find a new hobby. Golf professionals will help you make the most of the session and all equipment will be provided. Whether you are a seasoned golfer or new to the sport, we would welcome you to join us for one of these taster sessions.

Food and drink will be available for you to purchase throughout the day, from the Clubhouse bar.

The day will be divided into two sessions:

Morning session – meet for 10:30am, 11am start. 12noon finish.

Afternoon session – meet for 12noon, 12:30pm start. 1:30pm finish.

How do we get to York Golf Club?

By Road:

York Golf Club is situated on the outskirts of the village of Strensall. York has a Northern Ring Road (A1237) and a Southern Ring Road (A64). Whether you are coming from the North, South, East or West we find the easiest route is either the A64 or the A1237.

 

By Train:

York sits on the East Coast Main Line and York Station is just outside the City walls near the City Centre. Taxis are available outside for immediate hire – approximately 6 miles/20 minute ride.

 

By Bus:

You can travel via First bus, the 5 or 5A from opposite York Theatre Royal or from York Station. Buses are approximately every 20 minutes. The stop you need to get off the bus at is Brecks Lane. York Golf Club is a 7 – 10 minute walk from Brecks Lane.

 

Is parking available?

York Golf Club car park offers parking for over 100 vehicles, with overflow spaces for a further 20.

 

Do I need to bring equipment?

Equipment will be provided but if you have golfclubs and would prefer to bring your own, please do.

 

Will there be guides available?

If you require a volunteer guide, please let Vicky know.

 

Is there a maximum number of people able to participate?

Yes. To make sure everyone has a really good experience numbers are restricted and the day has been divided into two sessions, morning and afternoon.

 

Can I bring my guide dog?

Yes, guide dogs are welcome.

 

What should I wear?

Something comfortable and not restrictive, and trainers if you have them. You do not need expensive sportswear.

 

Are there changing facilities?

Yes, there is an area you can get changed in, but we would encourage you to arrive, ready to go. Directions will be given on the day about where you need to go.

 

Is there somewhere to eat?

Yes. There is a bar in the Clubhouse where you can buy light snacks and hot and cold drinks.

 

Do I or my guide need to have experience in playing golf?

No. This is a taster day and instruction will be given.

 

Who can attend?
